Fashion and Style Designer is one of the most modern and creative specialties, giving everyone the unique opportunity to create an individual style and find the most exciting solutions in the dynamic world of fashion. It is an integral part of the material culture that creates the most interesting costume and image projects.
Future fashion designers are provided with the opportunity to study the design features of the garment, the characteristics of sewing and materials, the creation of experimental materials and the application of experimental design in the collections that are being created, while stylists learn to form a unified individual, commercial and experimental style, analyze and apply fashion trends. Those who have successfully completed these studies are awarded a professional bachelor’s degree in arts.
Graduates will be able to apply their knowledge in a versatile way by creating collections of names or industrial collections, professionally providing style consultant services and offering prospective customers their own individual approach to fashion.
During 2011-2013 The Fashion Design Study Programme was renewed, implementing the project “Renewal of Study Programmes of Vilnius Design College Design Direction, Increasing Internationality” financed by European Union funds and the budget of the Republic of Lithuania. During the renewal of the Fashion Design Study Program, cooperation was established with higher education institutions in Denmark and the United Kingdom.
The aim of the Fashion Design study programme is to develop a highly qualified fashion designer who sees trends and market needs, is familiar with the principles of visual expression, the harmony of style elements, the design of clothing and the principles of sustainability, able to apply theoretical and technological knowledge in the development of high quality fashion design products, to organize and manage the creative process, working in a national and international context and capable of self-improvement or work in interdisciplinary teams, reflect and adequately evaluate the results of their professional activities, apply entrepreneurial skills, taking into account the needs of society and taking responsibility for the results of professional activity.
