History
The origins of the Vilnius College of Design go back to 1997, when the Giedrės Fledžinskienes Higher School of Arts was established, where clothing and theatrical make-up designers were trained.
The origins of the Vilnius College of Design (hereinafter - VDK) go back to 1997 (11/07/1997), when the Giedrės Fledžinskienes Higher School of Arts was established, where clothing and theatrical make-up designers were trained. Giedrė Fledžinskienė - a long-time teacher of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, artist-modeler.
G. Fledžinskienė, the founder of the school, is a long-time lecturer at Vilnius Academy of Arts, an artist-designer. In 2005 the school was reorganized into a public institution and named Vilnius College of Design, providing higher education.
2005 September 28 Giedrės Fledžinskienes Higher School of Arts was reorganized into VšĮ Vilnius College of Design, after being approved by the Minister of Education as providing higher college education. Register of Legal Entities Registration Certificate No. 082628.
2006 October 12 VDK Student Representation was established
2006 December 18 VDK Academic Council was established.
2013 August 02 Vilnius College of Design implemented a quality management system in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard and conducted an assessment of the college's management system in accordance with the Common Assessment Model (BVM; English CAF - Common Assessment Framework) and the European Quality Management Foundation (EFQM - European Foundation for Quality Management) elements of the excellence model. The Vilnius College of Design received a certificate from UAB "Bureau veritas Lit", confirming that in 2013 The quality management system implemented at the Vilnius College of Design meets the requirements of the management system standard ISO 9001:2008 in the field of preparation, organization and execution of higher education collegiate studies and non-formal education training programs.
2014 November 25-27 the evaluation of the Vilnius College of Design took place. The international group of experts assessed the college's activities positively, therefore, on April 14, 2015, the Director of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education by order no. SV6-17 Vilnius College of Design was accredited for a maximum period of 6 years. Decision on assessment of the quality of higher education (2015-03-27 No. IV2-8).

Creative field experts, pedagogues, and professional artist recognized in Lithuania work at the college, who are not only excellent specialists in the theory of the subject, but also experienced practitioners whose work is well known in an international context.
School has widely developed international cooperation - most advanced students go to study at foreign higher education schools around the world for half a year or a year and have the opportunity to do professional practice abroad. VCD cooperates with 65 leading universities and companies abroad (link to the list of foreign partners). Vilnius College of Design is a member of the global CUMULUS (link to http://www.cumulusassociation.org/) association, which unites 220 of the most advanced art, design and media studies higher schools from 50 countries around the world. In Lithuania, the CUMULUS association is represented by only two higher education institutions - the Vilnius College of Design and the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Membership in this association helps the Vilnius College of Design to expand cooperation with foreign higher schools geographically and subject-wise, to offer ever new opportunities for international activities to college students and the academic community, and to more actively carry out applied scientific activities. The college draws on the experience and innovations of leading art and design higher education institutions abroad.
The latest international knowledge and experience are shared with students by highly qualified, internationally recognized creators and lecturers who come to the Vilnius College of Design from leading foreign higher education institutions.
Several student organizations are active in the Vilnius College of Design. : ESN (Erasmus Student Network) VCD is one of the largest international student associations, operating on the principle of "students helping students". The main activity of ESN VCD is to help young people coming to the college from all over the world to integrate into Lithuanian student life. ESN VCD members become their "elder brothers and sisters": they help with accommodation issues, meet upon arrival in Lithuania, help integrate into studies at VCD, organize an orientation week, trips, introduce cultural features.
The most active college students can attend VCD Student Board the purpose of which is to create a creative study atmosphere, organize community life for students, protect students' rights and interests, represent students in cooperation with the college's administrative and academic departments and student self-government organizations.
Vilnius College of Design has an actively engaged Career center that provides students and graduates career counseling and information services facilitating their integration into labor market.
In Vilnius College of Design, restless student life is always in action - there are plenty of extra-curricular activities and opportunities grow as an individual.
